Jerome J. Roberts has represented and advised Fortune 500 corporations, major financial institutions and future exchanges, as well as smaller business entities and individuals in both technology and general business matters in litigation and transactional settings.
Mr. Roberts has an accounting background and passed the CPA exam in Illinois in 1965. He obtained his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School and was admitted to practice in Illinois in 1968. Mr. Roberts is also admitted to practice before various federal courts including the U.S. Tax Court, Federal Appeals Court for the Seventh Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
In 1970, while at Northwestern Law School, Mr. Roberts created one of the first courses in the country to address the legal issues presented by computer technology and its implementation. He taught that course as an adjunct professor at Northwestern for 42 years and taught a similar course as adjunct professor at IIT Chicago Kent College of Law for approximately 24 years during that period. Mr. Roberts withdrew as partner in a large Chicago firm in 1980 to form Roberts & Caruso.
